Anyone made a carousel to house parts trays ?

I've got loads of small boxes full of various parts / fittings. I did consider storage bins but don't want to cover a wall with them plus they would collect dirt / dust / swarf, etc.

You can get storage carousels but they are outside my budget -

I'm thinking of making my own version. Size will be such that it's fit inside a standard oil drum that has a pair of opening doors on the front.

Anyone else made a parts carousel ?

Fitting the square trays into the round drum won't be a very efficient use of space. I'd work out how big a double sided, back to back, mini wall (mobile if you like) would be for the same amount of trays you can get in the drum. Bet it's not much wider than a drum and quite a bit shallower.

That said, the round idea does look cool.

I would prefer to use wall space instead of floor space,

I saw a floor to ceiling one in a factory workshop once, the bins were on a motorised hoist arrangement which was quite neat. (Way ott for a home workshop though!)
