Anyone know where I can get a DINSE DIX PX 050 plasma torch

Hi I've been offered an old but working Plasma with a knackered DINSE DIX PX 050 torch spares for which don'e appear to be availiable any longer. Or would I be easier to rewire the machine to use a diffrent torch???
Let me know what you think guy's please

Hi Craig

There's not a lot to a plasma torch; low-voltage/low-current switch, hose for the air, and a decent conductor for the amps
So I'd expect you can either buy a new torch directly from ebay (probably via China) or build-your-own with a generic torch and the appropriate connectors.

What I'd be more concerned about is whether the seller is using the "torch is knackered" excuse as a reason to not demonstrate that the plasma is working

Thanks for yer input, but it's from a mate stays in the same village as me that's stopped using it due to his age and health and deffo not trying to scam me !! We have both done a load a digging but can't turn a torch or spares up. So guess the new question is how difficult is it to fit and wire a new torch

No worries - let's forget the torch for a moment, then and concentrate on the cutter. Do you know the make / model or have any pictures of the unit?
You can post the offer price here and we can give you an opinion on value - alternatively, do you already have an opinion on whether it's;

1. A good price, given that I need to buy a torch
2. A total steal

I guess the point is that if you're at #1 then the price of a torch becomes critical but, if you're at #2 and you have faith that the unit works then the decision is a lot easier.

A question that we oh, it's just me , haven't asked is what is the issue with the torch?

They really are pretty simple creatures so you can probably repair whatever is knackered and even convert other torches / leads.

It appears just the shroud from the torch is missing I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find one of correct size somplace
