Anyone know what this is for ?

Evening all, My mate Brian's father has just unfortunately had to move in to a home ( he is 94, god bless him) and whilst clearing his shed Brian found this tool and wondered what it's for, I have no idea and I thought I would ask on here as someone is bound to know . Top one looks like a scriber, Maybe self made.

It's a meat bat,used for tenderising or flattening out steaks without mashing them unlike the more common hammer type. Ideal if you are making veal escalopes.

We were joking about earlier and our best guess was a meat tenderiser, you cant see very well in the pictures but it also says made in france

I'd guess as a butter pat, used to shape blocks of freshly made butter. Used to be quite common to find them on house clearances round here as there are /were alot of dairy farms.

I thought they were made from wood, as the heat from your hands would transfer down the shaft, causing the butter to soften
