Hi,

Would anyone be interested in a small fabrication job?

Basically, I need 6 steel plates, each plate with 5 holes drilled in it and one of the holes to have a nut welded over it on one side of the plate only.

I have attached a picture that gives more detail of the job, the picture is not to scale. I am not sure if I need someone local, the finished item could be posted as it is not very big. I am located near to Croydon, Surrey.

Your thread specs don't make sense.

M25 8TPI pitch 3.0

Are you sure this isn't a 1" BSW thread? That would be 25.4mm OD and 8TPI. Other than that it could be 8TPI or 3.0mm pitch but not both - 8TPI works out as 3.175mm pitch.

Yes, it could be a 1" BSW thread but I bought the bolts with nuts from the supplier as M25? It was for this reason I made the note at the bottom of the drawing about it being an unusual thread size.

I have updated the drawing to simplify things, the drawing now only specifies an M20 nut. However, I can be flexible with the size of the nut welded onto the plate, its not a deal breaker.

I have some 8x100 plate but only enough to make 3 immediately. The plates I made from the 8x100 could be reused but are only 200mm long, would that be too short?

If you could make 6 plates immediately that were 200mm x 100mm x 8mm that would be OK for me. Do you have 6 x M20 nuts available with a coarse thread (10tpi, pitch 2.5)? I have the M20 nuts and the corresponding bolts but if you have them readily available no need to use the ones I have.

M16 nuts are the biggest I have, I could prepare the plates and weld the nuts you have to them. When do you need them by?

That would be OK, you could weld the nuts on the plates when I collect them if that is an option?
I need them soon, to be honest I should have asked about the work a few days earlier, I hope to use the plates next week sometime.
