shame you didnt win but theres a price limit to everything eh. better luck next time![]()
Price of decent used chainsaws have gone through the roof since the recent craze on log burners...i have bid on at least 10 in the last month but refuse to be dragged into a bidding war if it goes beyond viable to buyIts also depends on how much you might have to send to get it running again...that's the the problem with used pro-class chainsaws.
Totally agree there's a Husky 281xp on the Bay of Fleas, currently it's at £800.00 with 3 days to go......mad just mad......it is a clean example but.........Price of decent used chainsaws have gone through the roof since the recent craze on log burners...i have bid on at least 10 in the last month but refuse to be dragged into a bidding war if it goes beyond viable to buy
There are sellers asking £50 less than new price for a used Stihl ms180...7 years old....only a baby saw but thats an example of the market atm.Totally agree there's a Husky 281xp on the Bay of Fleas, currently it's at £800.00 with 3 days to go......mad just mad......it is a clean example but.........![]()

you may be lucky the way it is atmI know it's not a professional model, but it sounds like it may be worth sticking mine on the bay and hope the idiots outbid themselves
It's actually in good nick as I've only used it 2 or 3 times from new.

The winning bidder doesn't fancy travelling down from Cambridge to collect it, so I've been offered second dibs....

There were Stihls for sale up here, the guy wanted new money for them. It’s crazy. I’ve been looking for old saws to do up. Non runners are going for big money too, no meat on the bone for meA brand new Ms180 is about £220-250, personally I would just buy a new one. The small homeowner Stihl saws can really punch above their weight. I spent 15 years abusing an 017 Stihl and it never missed a beat.
It is crazy that people are bidding these old saws up so much when often new ones don't cost much more. I appreciate it may be that the older units are better but someone cutting firewood a new one is probably the way to go.
Personally in these situations my argument is I should pay what my highest bid was before the other person got involved. I know there are some clowns out there but to suddenly realise Cambridge is a 5hr round trip and £80 in fuel seems a bit unlikely.
As long as you are happy with what you are paying then it's fine.
