Thanks spark plug was wet I hit it with wire brush then re inserted. Haven't tested spark yet so will put spark tester on it and also easy start to rule out fuel problemsIs there a spark? Is the plug wet? Not sure if briggs do this with there engines but does it have a low oil level device that stops the spark if the oil level is low?
Cheers will be looking into this in coming days. I store it outside with a tarp over it so wonder if valves are sticking bitNormaly the briggs old one not sure about the new stuff don't have an oil snecer that's more honda and China engines
The GX range from honda and clones tip the exhaust valve slightly to aid decompression but must have the valve clearance spot on for it to work, valves too loose and it misses the tip. @rb02259 check the valve clearance first as they can get tighter as opposed to become loose which might be keeping a valve open.I’m not sure on that particular engine but some have a decompressor built into the camshaft and it holds a valve open slightly to aid starting. Once the engine is up to speed it automatically disengages.
Not really, it’s purpose is to reduce the load on the engine/motor when you release the trigger rather than to continue to build pressure. When the trigger is released it also diverts the pumped water back to the inlet side of the pump at low pressure or if equipped back to the supply tank. In my opinion back to tank is better with engine driven machines as it reduces the risk of overheating the pump seals if left without the trigger pulled.Does this valve allow me to start it without having to pull the trigger on the nozzle at the same time?
Will do thanks budThe GX range from honda and clones tip the exhaust valve slightly to aid decompression but must have the valve clearance spot on for it to work, valves too loose and it misses the tip. @rb02259 check the valve clearance first as they can get tighter as opposed to become loose which might be keeping a valve open.
The camshaft has a spring loaded heel on it, sometimes these stick and can cause the valve to lift too. btw when doing the comp test are you making sure the throttle is wide open and the choke is not closed? Will do thanks bud
No I hadn't been doing that or atleast hadn't made an effort to ensure it. Will rerun that check fully open tomorrow too !The camshaft has a spring loaded heel on it, sometimes these stick and can cause the valve to lift too. btw when doing the comp test are you making sure the throttle is wide open and the choke is not closed?
