Anyone good with Skoda Fabias?

Mrs W took her 2010 Fabia 1.6 TDI (105) into the dealers today as it’s go an intermittent ABS fault. As part of the complimentary safety check they found that the flexi pipe coming from the DPF has separated from the DPF as the exhaust mount has broken, putting all the weight in the flexi. They want £1700 to replace the DPF. There is nothing wrong with the DPF itself just the pipe attached to it.
Does anyone have experience of removing the DPF on these? Is there a repair section that can be welded on? If it’s easy to get to I can think about doing it myself but I would be lying on my back in the gravel (and probably in wind and rain) or alternatively might take it to someone else to get it done but I would appreciate some impartial advice!
The cars done 130K so it’s not worth a great deal. The ABS sensor needs replacing which apparently means the wheel bearing as well as a bolt sheared off. They want another £400 for that.
It’s still at the dealers so I can’t look at it or take photos. It’s been maintained by them for the last 8 or 9 years so I’m a bit annoyed that they didn’t pick up the failing mount when it was last in a couple of months ago.

the DPF and the gubbins was down the back of the engine and was a "drop the subframe" when ours was playing up.

it didnt end well and we ended up in legal battle with Skoda.

If they were fit to stick it on in the factory , Im sure you can stick it on again , with a wee bit of imagination and if you post pics plenty here will come up with some way round it without spending the price of the car on the car.

The 1.6cr tdi engines have a bad poor designed dpf, drop the subframe and a few other bits to get out.

Right pain, but doable just will take a while.

As for flexi a universal flexi should be able to be cut up to fit.
As for abs sensor I recon they are being a bit soft. The fronts usually go through the hubs held in by a torx or Allen head bolt. As is the rear dependant on if running drums or discs.

Thanks chaps. We’re sat here mulling it over, looking at other cars and trying to decide what TF to do with it. Turns out it’s £2500 all in to get the repairs done at the dealers. Cars worth less than that but has been a fantastic vehicle. Seems a shame to write it off for a bit of exhaust.
Last time I dropped a subframe over a weekend was on my old Skoda pickup to change the steering rack. That was bad enough.

Ive yet to see any broken flexi in any vag 1.6tdi , the wire mesh cover is sometimes broken but the actual metal accordian inside it is always fine, the exhaust just needs popping back into the mounting, but probably had the flexi strained so they could be covering themselves, an indy could weld in a universal flexi but a main dealer wouldnt be allowed .
The abs sensor is pushed in from the back of the hub , usually siezed in place and have to take off bearing to drive the sensor out with a drift. Sometimes you will get away with removing the bearing and refitting it, but more often than not the bearing would fail a short time later
Ten years old its more than time to get shot of the main stealers and find yourself a good indy

Thanks for that. Made me look at the video they sent again. I think you’re right and the inner is still connected. Wondered why I hadn’t heard it blowing. We’ll get it back and look for a decent independent.

Found a Skoda specialist who’s local to my work. They new exactly what needed doing and they also said the inner pipe never separates. They quote me £268 to replace the ABS sensor and wheel bearing and to repair the exhaust by welding up the failed mount. All went to plan including courtesy car. Great service and a tenth of what the main dealers wanted to sort it. Thanks chaps.
