Anycubic i3 Mega 3 Thermistor

My lad's Anycubic printer keeps randomly stopping mid print. He reckons it's down to a break in either the green or blue wire going to the bed thermistor. Lots of Y axis movement seems to make it worse.

Insulation and resistance tests of each wire were a bit inconclusive. Wiggling the wire whilst connected though did see the bed temperature occasionally drop to zero.

Cut them off at the bed and was going to solder in new lengths of green and blue but none of my soldering irons reach a high enough temperature. Going to ask at work if I can borrow one of their temperature controlled ones.

Can you not use a crimp connector? I used a Dupont set when my cooling fan needed replacement. Quite handy as I recently had to repeat the performance.

Really thin wires, 0.125mm2. Going up to 0.25mm2.

They will crimp easier than solder.

What sort of crimps? I've only got the red, blue, yellow, in-line ones.

Was only looking to put one join in each of the green and blue cables and that probably inside the printer where it's not subject to the Y movement.

Hmm...I should have left some longer tails on the blue and green! Soldering station and even at the max, 450degC I can't melt the solder! Silver solder maybe?

Probably just a thermal mass issue.
It'll likely need watts more than degrees.

Forgot to say, if you have two soldering irons, try both at the same time.
