I've got a stainless steel exhaust and I need to repack the silencer.
I have very little welding experience so any advice would be great. Here's my plan:
1. Cut open the silencer across the diameter using a 1mm angle grinding disc.
2. Repack the silencer
3. Tack the silencer in 4 places around the circumference (not sure about this bit)
4. Follow the welding process for welding thin steel as per the tutorial on this site.
I am planning on marking/scoring the silencer before I cut it open to ensure I can align it correctly when I weld it back up.
Should I tack it in more than 4 places? Say every inch and then join the tacks?
Any advice would be really appreciated.
