any sparks on tonight need to know a bit about cooker/hob conections

as above we have a feed for a cooker 30 amp

for the feed for the electric hob we need ? i have not bought the hob as of yet but need to know as doing the cut outs for the sockets and such

the main cooker will be run off the main 30 amp cooker scoket can the hob be conected to this ? or is it better to run the hob from a sperate feed from the main 32 ring main dedacated for the kitchen

from a quick look on web most hobs come/work on a 13 amp socket ?

we are thinking 30 amp for a dual oven cooker standard 600mm but dual ovens

and runing the hob from the 32amp ring main

a free standing cooker should be wired on its own and nothing else connected . what hob u buy will have the manufacturers recommended fuse rating. if it is over 13 amp it cannot be taken of the ring main or cant be connected in with the free standing cooker point

all depends on the cooker and hob some cookers can be pluged into a 13amp now too

What else do you have on that ring is it the kitchen one?
Wont take much to push it over 32a hob, kettle, microwave, possibly dishwasher, washing machine or tumble dryer.
Our kitchen is split into 2 rings for the above reason.

thanks for the question but other half wants it that way i said you get what you want but has to be a cut off dont want to spend loads putting in extra supplys


far left and far right standard 13 amp dubble sockets

the right hand is the standard 30 amp cooker socket socket the will feed the right box lower down

im thinking the left box being fed from the 32 ring main 13 amp spur in the box down to the left lower box with a 2.5 mm cable to run the hob but would restrict what we can buy for a hob

Hi
You will probably find that a hob unit will be in the 3-5kw range so this is not something that can go on a ring main due to loading one point. As has been said they should be on a dedicated circuit. A cooker will generally pull around the same amount 3-5kw unless they are serious size. If you can find the kW rating of the two units then we can calculate the total load and give you a proper answer! You may find that due to modern elements and stats they will both work on the 30a cooker supply. On a side note if it's just an oven a lot will plug in on a 13a nowadays but they should still not be on the ring main!

there's not a problem plugging a 13amp oven on a ring main but obviously the total load on that circuit needs to be calculated
