Any one own a Tom Senior Major????

Any suggestions on the drive shaft leak from behind table??

On my tom senior m1. My oil leaked from the sight glass rim.

On both machines. The 5 gearbox oil seals had hardened so I changed the full 5 on each machine

Thinking about it, it's probably fed from the table drive gerbox, hence the need for an oiler, if the g/b oil was contained the fill hole would be have been plugged?

Could be; easy enough to test it out.

having had my Tom Senior Magor apart recently, I cant recall the gearbox oil bath feeding anything other than the worm drive.

One thing to note (and i dont know if it makes any difference) but the gibs on my Tom Senior major ar in two halfs (my other M1 has one long gib)

the major with its two gibs has a different way of adjustment, the adjusting four bolts are in the same area as the oil hole as on my latter M1

I noticed this morning the oil is coming out underneath what appears to be a brass bushing where the shaft goes through it to the worm gear, there does not appear to be any type of oil seal, my fear is that the brass bushing is a friction fit and may need to be replaced???
