Any mk6 transit experts on here??? Bit smokey!!

am i right in thinking that this is the duratorq,if so,it sounds like the egr valve is sooted up to bo@#ox,i work in a dealership for the good old black cabs which use this engine also, it`s quite a common occurance for us to remove+clean the egr cos the cabs just tend to do mainly stop/start trips.we sometimes have to remove the plastic inlet manifold too (much easier if it`s the smaller type)cos they are sometimes in a worse state than the egr valve.
on the fuel pump issue,they tend to lose fuel pressure and obviously not run.
if it starts up ok,then that suggests plenty fuel pressure,although you may find it lacks power if the egr is filthy.

A common mod is to blank off the EGR, as you can still pass an MOT fine without it. Some people take off the cat too.
I've got a blanked EGR and a remap on one of mine
