Any locksmiths , how do I remove barrel?

hi, this is the handle/lock from rear canopy of my truck , key is right no. goes in but lock is frozen , soaked overnight with no change , is it the small round pin I need to pop out to remove barrel to try and un freeze? or is there some other magic trick , obviously I can buy a new one if I can find make of canopy but would rather fix than spend neadlessly. thanks in advance

Normally its like you say push the sprung pin in, either that brassy looking bit or the hole further up, theres no circlip on the very end is there?

cant see any circlip , the square bit seems pretty solid , have nt tried the small round one yet ,thought better ask advice first

just had a good look and there is a third small round hole @ 90deg to the other two , one of the pair you can see in the pics a safety pin goes right into the lock when the keys out , the other one is blind ,as is the third , pushing with safety pin nothing feels like it wants to move .

Was there a cam/lever on the square? Sometimes that holds the barrel in, once it's off the barrel just pushes out

yes, operates levers that work catches either side , I will soak it over night before try anything else , sneaking suspicion it should have a locking pin holding it in though.

Bingo, scraped around the brass square and that was moving fractionally, then with a safety fin scraped all around thecchome cap where key goes in , kept at that as seemed too tight on body to turn. oiled, left on parkray to get warm.
put key back in and presto all working again , seems mostly it was the chrome cover plate/key slot on top was siezed in body .

Try and give it a good flush out with WD or something, it's only that mazaki crapy alloy stuff it will be full of rubbish and dry grease

Soak in isopropanol to soften & dissolve most of the coagulated gunge , wash in very hot dish drops soapy water and keep operating the lock leave for a few hours in a pan on very low simmer , the hot soapy water will break down any oil bound gunge & metals and help flush it out . rinse several time in clean hot water each rinse shake well & leave to dry for several hours in a warm place , re lube the lock with a silicone / PTFE or graphite based lube not oil , as that will thicken in cold weather ( which is due here in a couple of days .)

I'd dismantle it and scrape any gunge off. Mazak does oxidise over time.

it was done and refitted, ptfe spray inside and graphite grease on exterior , all working nicely thanks , seems its the chromed(nickel) end cap that was causing problem .cheers

Surely that's a missed opportunity to buy an ultrasonic cleaner.....

You still need to dissolve the gunge and get it mobile . Used Isopropanol and a blow lamp then four dish drops in the cleaner tank and very hot top end of hot water for several cleaning cycles ..

Found that out using a ultra sonic jewelry cleaner ( Aldi £19 some 9 or so years ago & worth every penny ) to degrease four 35 yr old 30mm stuck roller bearings .
