Something very strange going on with my STW-8B (Consew 226)... Everything working fine until I decided to change for a full bobbin. After putting it in, It would not stitch at all. I checked the bobbin, rethreaded it twice and switched back to the original, with no difference. I then changed needles twice and thread once. Something that I can't work out is that despite holding on to the ends of the thread, the thread comes out of the eye, which is impossible but happens every time I try to sew. I have requested an engineer but he has other customers in front of me. Any ideas please?

Sounds like too much tension on the thread.

As Pedro says or the machine isn't pulling the thread from the top bobbin to replace the thread used to stitch

Check the needle is in the correct way, with a bit of unluck you can put them in backwards, the needle has a concave to the hole for the hook to catch the thread, if hook sees the flat side there is no loop for it to catch

If you are holding on the thread and it comes out then it must be cutting the thread, check for burrs on the needle or the hook.If its not cutting the thread then maybe the tension on the top is too high.
