Hi, I can see from the plaster it's not nearly dry enough yet, from practice I allowed new plaster to dry for as long as possible, sometimes up to a month, 6 weeks depending on conditions.Morning forum , had some internal insulation and replastering done .
I've not painted bare plaster before so what's the best way to procede guys ?
I've heard couple of coats of thinned down ' contract ' emulsion first .... Order is there some other/better way ??
Thanks Mike
Yeah, not vinyl.use contract emulsion . slightly watered down 1st coat dont use vinyl its not porous
just about to say thisThe screwfix no nonsense bare plaster paint is excellent
Bloody 'ell, if I did that in our house I'd still be doing it at the heat death of the universe.I use watered down white matt emulsion for the first coat.
Then 3 rounds of marking high & low points with a pencil, do it early morning, early evening, at night with the lights - the lighting from different angles helps find problems. Mark every scratch and shadow.
Shave any high points level using the edge of a metal ruler - do it in the first couple of days while the plaster is still easy to shape.
Fill the marked low points with superfine filler and sand smooth.
