Hi guys,

A bit of a long shot here, but I've been building a wall in the garden this week and today it's been piddling it down on and off all day. My question is, do I need to cover the bricks I've laid today (between 11.00 am and 1.00 pm) to keep the rain off or should they be ok now?

In case the info is needed, 4:1 mix, LBC Heather, frog down, 4 courses up from ground level.

always just laid a plank over new brick work, raining or not....

I usually covered brickwork if I could, in hot sun to stop drying out too quick, if wet to stop mortar wash out and staining.

Keeping it dry helps against frost damage if it should freeze in the next few days, but also prevents that ugly white staining you see so often on new build houses as the salts migrate to the surface for the next few years.

Same as Frank ^ I just put some planks over for 24 hours, oh also remember not to step on the freshly laid bricks
