thanks for that i will not be getting near one of them then.
may be good for a door stop or paper wheight then.

You can pick them up off eBay if you've got a AC/DC arc welder...
Something like this:

That's quite a bit more than I've seen others go for but you probably get the idea...
There are cheaper ones that are for DC only:
TIGs_&_Addons
Near the bottom there are "start" units....
Edit: To be fair though for a little over £300 you could probably pick up a reasonably decent DC TIG unit...

i all ready have a scratch start sealy mma/tig unit its just a pain using scratch start when making exhausts headders.
so would this be the unit to use with it to convert my unit to a hf start.

Yeah thats a HF addon...
The AC ones run permanently though for Ali TIG welding, the ones for DC only use HF to start the arc then it cuts out after a short delay...
The MigTigArc website stocks a mixture at slightly less than the eBay prices...
Weldequip on the other hand stocks or can supply both the DC and AC ones as far as I know when I was looking some time ago, I think his prices are better too
