Any alarm engineers?

Elderly inlays have a bog standard wired alarm with two passives.
One passive looks to be giving two or three false alarms a year, what can I do to eliminate this?
They need a new bel box as the old one is tatty so were is the best place for bits?

have a look in the pir sometimes there is a jumper to adjust sensitivity also you can change the panel to double knock if it has the option

not sure I'm not familiar with that panel, the one I have at work has a digital display so just scroll through the various options, do you have a manual for it ? if not try searching online for one

it shows some with them I have one like that above sat in a box as I kept getting woke up at 4 and 5 in a morning the stupid thing

Passives can be sensetive things, replace it with the more modern type quad detectors, less false alarms, or the more reliable and expensive pir and mocrowave detectors.

Connections are similar, just a straight swap

Not sure if you are aware, but from my limited Alarm experience.
With some systems the tamper loop is on an additional engineers code to discourage customer modifications.
Even with the system disarmed if you do not have an engineers code, the bell box may very well activate when you pop the lid. Be prepared with ear defenders a small screwdriver and a pair of small snips.

One thing I made sure of was having them put an engineers code in that I gave them, they didn't like it, but witholding the payment until they did it worked

Edit: there is normally a jumper that can be moved to reset the system to factory settings including the factory engineers code.

When you pop the lid and disconnect it, depending on its age and condition the internal battery should ring the bell or siren until its flat.

My experience is limited, but i took out a large system (4 sounders) once the box was opened the alarm activated. Didn't matter what you did next the only way to silence it was to cut a link on the pcb. Tried all sorts to stop or reset it.

The pcb you speak of is called an SAB, self activating bell, or Scb, its been a while, but basically its a rechargable battery , that is charged at all times from the panel. If it looses its charge supply or the tamper loop is opened, for example if the box is ripped of the wall, itll sound until flat.

Some of the more modern bell boxes have whats called engineer hold off, to prevent this during installation.

Going to check the panel tomorrow and call a Passive supplier just to be certain of compatibility, then I will try a new passive and bell box, not sure if she has 12v o the bell box for the SAB though and it would be a night mare to add
