My daughter has asked
“Can you make this for me”

It looks to be about 1m diameter, although it may need to be slightly smaller to get it in the car and through her door.
I don’t want to have get the welder set up at her house to join the two halves.
There must be someone here that has done something similar.
What would you use as a former?
How many horses will I need to catch and remove their shoes? Although I may arrange to get some off @hotponyshoes to save doing this.
Any advantage to building a top and bottom or a left and right and then join them.
Should I ask a proper welder to adopt my daughter and get her to ask them?

This is an interesting one, I have an idea for a sculpture made of 8mm nuts welded together but I need a form shape and I have no idea how to begin making one. Well I do actually, but it wouldn't work :-(

Since it will be a ‘one-off’, my thought was to bend a piece of bar, I have some 2mm by 20mm, into a semicircle and have the two ends fixed on my bench so it can be hinged. This would give me a moveable form and then build each half using that as a guide which will move as each row is added.
If anyone has a better idea I am open to ideas.

I’ve never done anything like this but I would consider starting with an old domed barbecue lid and try holding the horseshoes in place with magnets until they are tacked.
My suggestion may be a load of old twonk and I’m sure the more experienced guys on here will clarify it.

and there was me thinking if you give a fish to a man he eats for 1 day you teach a man to fish he eats for life :laughing:

so on that basis yourgoing to have to teach herto weld then she can make her own
