any adhesive experts?

ive got a piece of headliner trim thats come unstuck , its proving to be hard to restick

its thin stretchy vynil with no backing , ive tried a few glues that just goes oily /greasy feeling and wont stick

any ideas please

Yep..that's what we always used when in the trade, read the instructions though..some are immediate contact and others are timed and may even require 2 sprayings.

Remains of previous attempts need removed though, this could possibly be causing a reaction and halting the adhesive properties.

Strange... never had that experience with it, always found it the opposite, if you got carried away it was so sticky it was a nightmare to get overspray off.

i was reading on the evo stick site that its plasticisers that bleed out and cause the oily effect

What are you gluing it to?
How have you cleaned and prepared the surface?
What have you used so far, to try and stick it?

Try Trimfix spray adhesive. It's a contact adhesive like carpet glue but is better for the higher temperatures you get in a car when it is sitting in the sunshine. That's what I use for headlinings.

Lots of different high temp contact adhesive on ebay. The key is in prepration/ cleaning of both surfaces. I normally use panel wipe or IPA (or car thinners on metal etc tha twill withstand it). Spray both surfaces allow to go tacky and stick together. You must get it right at first attempt though as it will stick.
Alternatively Evostick do a timebond contact adhesive which suppoedly allows you to slide the material but I don't know how effective it is for high temperature applications.

while it needs to be high temp..its the wierd plasticy vynil thats the issue here

Both the car trimmers i know use Alphabond AF178 for pretty much everything including vinyl to gel coated fibreglass. Having nabbed some from one of 'em i think it's the reason many trimmers are a bit... weird. It fixed some of vinyl trim i'd been having problems with due to heat (again vinyl to fibreglass) and got me high far too easily.
