Put a meter across two legs and turn the pot from end to end. Keep testing combinations until you find two that don't change, the 3rd one is the wiper.

Your Wiper needs to be the reference signal/voltage back to the VFD if I remember correctly.

Nothing wrong with using a multi-turn btw. Its what i have on my lathe vfd.

I have never seen a multiturn before.

I really need to change the pot on my mill power feed as its very logarithmic in its action. I might see if a multitude is more useful.

You don't need a multi-turn for a machine tool, just a single turn linear pot. You probably have a logarithmic pot or you too might have the wiper connected to the wrong pin.

And I agree, a multi-turn is pointless.

One in the link, it is the terminal furthest away from the panel mount.

You will need to have swapped potentiometer terminals 1 and 3 over (the two terminals nearest the knob/control spindle), to make it work in the opposite sense i.e. clockwise to increase motor speed. The bottom terminal on the potentiometer needs to be connected to the terminal marked A11 on the board. The pot you have is 10k, whereas the instructions indicate 5k, though the chances are the change will make very little difference in this application.

Got it, wired right now and working fine. I didn’t know I was getting a multi turn till it arrived and when I turned it I thought it was a 360 degree pot without any stops. Thanks for your help all.

I use a pair of 'em for setting max and min RPM on the cross-slide linear potentiometer, so the speed ramps up approaching centre (though it won't go above 2500, don't want to push the nearly 70-year-old motor too far... 85Hz max) They're probably overkill... But they were spare in the junk box with the turn-counter knobs!

Mine kicks in and has to be instantly backed off. The speed is too fast very quickly. So I am.guessing log pot but I may be wrong.

Tha does sound like a Log (aka "A Taper"), they double output several times for the same amount of rotation, so very jumpy at first - linear ("B Taper") are properly proportional.
