Antenna brackets. Made from 1" and 3/8" plate. 1 1/4" Holes bored in my lathe and welded with my MM185 w/CO2 and Inweld Dual Shield .035 fluxcore wire...Bob

That looks like a serious bit of tube to carry the antenna, are you a radio ham by any chance?

Nice..... will you be bolting the plate to anything, the welding distortion could cause some grief to the line up of the holes if the plate is pulled flat.

Nice job, nice welds. Is that the camera lens or is the bottom plate that distorted?. If you don't mind me asking.

Bottom plate has curled slightly due to the concentrated heat when the two brackets have been welded on. Counteracted by clamping down hard to a decent piece of steel/plate/bench. If you are putting a lot of heat into something like that, you can trap a piece of say 5mm rod between the back of the plate and the bench - back-bending.
When it is all released, the plate should be fairly true - a bit of trial and error required!

The bottom plate does look a little distorted,but even when bolted down and pulled flat I don't think it will effect the saddle brackets, they are too thick and far enough from the welds ( I may be wrong)

Best to flatten it out before you bolt it up, if its going onto masonary.

Two blocks or hard wood, just in from each end, and give it a belt with the sledge.

As Paul mentioned, a bit of clamping down will minimise that.

It was the lens, it was bowed a little but the camera really made it look worse. I was going to heat them on the backside but the guy said they would be fine as they are bolting to wood....Bob
