Another which welder thread (sorry!)

Hi everyone.

Im new here and looking for some help and advice.

I have a clarke 150 (i think) mig welder and its been fine for years but every now and then it will just play up for awhile and then weld fine again.

Ive had the welder for years now and am looking to upgrade to something better.

Im currently making a rear subframe using 2.5mm cds tube but would also like to do a little bit of bodywork and some other fabrication with thicker metal.

I would like it to use the larger 15k spools of wire and larger bottles of gas (my current welder uses the small type which seems to go through both really quickly).

My budget is around £500.

I have had a look through some of the posts in the forum but nothing really met my criteria.

As a Portamig owner I suggest they are well worth considering, heavy construction, well made, low amps for bodywork and Euro torch, had mine for about 6 months in daily use and can't fault it.
