Another what is this....

When I got my Mill, A few V blocks came with it, just notices that these are not v-blocks:

Any ideas what they are?

it should have a u shaped bolt somewhere they hold the material down and in place while you mill material between them

I know them as adjustable vee blocks, should have a plate n the middle with a clamp bolt

Most standard V-blocks have the grooves on the outside so the U-bolt works. These have the grooves on the inside so a clamp can be much simpler as jsf55 points out: just a flat plate with a tapped hole.

These would work well in a vice as there is nothing on the outside in the way of the vice jaws.

I am curious as to the cap screws and what look like brass pins in them.

Similar to this;

But rather than the big U shaped piece to bridge the part being clamped, you just need a flat plate/bar to fit in the slots of the parallel sections. I assume anyway, never seen ones like that before.

These would work well in a vice as there is nothing on the outside in the way of the vice jaws.

Could well be for a surface grinder as the clamp piece won't get in the way of the magnetic chuck.

The tool maker where i worked years ago had some, used it to put flats on shaped punched on the grinder, other than that i only remember the name he used

Yes, they look like the are made as separate parts:
