Came in a box of tools I was given, not seen one before, maker - Eclipse:
Never even knew there was such a tool!Saw tooth setter

Wouldn't bother with anything other than hard point these daysSaw set - YES.
I got an Eclipse one and some saw files from grandad when he died.
But with the advent of hard point saws - I been buying Sandvik ones. I have only ever used it once on a tenon saw - did not make a good job of it - real skill is saw sharpening.
I struggle a bit to touch up a chainsaw chain. Let alone a fine TPi saw.
My dad taught me how to sharpen saws, I still have 5 old Diston's made in Philadelphia, three date back to the 1890's, still great saws & much nicer to use than a modern hardpoint. Trouble is about ten years ago i discovered the Japanese pull saw, they cut on the pull stroke so the blade is thinner & cuts a finer kerf, plus you have more control.
They cut so fast & clean it almost looks like the endgrain has been planed. They make a new hardpoint feel like its been chewing bricks.
Now my distons are mere ornaments!
Love my pull saws. Just ordered new blades uoMy dad taught me how to sharpen saws, I still have 5 old Diston's made in Philadelphia, three date back to the 1890's, still great saws & much nicer to use than a modern hardpoint.
