Another spot welder question

Has anyone thought about or made a spotwelder? you know buying the copper electrodes and hooking it up to a normal mig welder?

I'm harking back to the liitle spotwelder booth in my engineering training many moons ago and remember when one execise was in fabricating your tool box and using the spotwelder to spotweld the sides and bottom to form the box,distant memory now but I just looked that spotwelder back then how basic it was just two copper arms and two electrodes going to a power box,you clamped the electrodes to the job and pressed the button.

Or is it more complicated?

Unless your 'normal' MIG is some kind of massive 400a industrial unit as a minimum I don't think it would be possible, I understand that spot welding uses a very high amperage and very low voltage.
A MIG would typically have nowhere near enough amps.

A 400 wouldnt either, about 800 to 1000 would be more like it.
