I have restored a few Pultra lathes ( I have a soft spot for them sad I know) have to do something apart form restoring antique clocks in my retirement, well I went to see another one on Monday advertised as a Pultra 17/50 but turned out to be a 17/70 ( bonus ) 2 crosslides 3 tool rests boxed fixed steady plus loads more, the owner was a retired surgeon that had taken up clock repair & making model steam engines but due to getting poor eyesight couldn’t do it anymore, we agreed a price then he said you may as well have this box & this box did I want the brass & steel , the only thing I didn’t want was the mardrive.
My wife said so the decorating has just got further away again then, after 50 years she knows me so well anything but decorating ( I hate it ).

A Pultra 17/50 has a centre height of 50mm the 17/70 has a centre height of 70mm but there is also a15/90 having a centre of 90mm but is also a much larger lathe altogether, and not forgetting the Pultra P type having the same 50mm centre as the 17/50.
This is my P type first picture second picture my 17/70 the only difference to the 17/50 in the 17 series has closed in headstock & can be driven from the back or under counter, third picture for size comparison 15/90 at the back.

They take Pultra conflex collets , my P type has 10mm in headstock & 8mm in tailstock, the 17/50 & 70 10mm & the 15/90 takes 20mm.

Ah, at first I thought they might be Crawford 55 collets. I've got a bunch I'm trying to get rid of but can't find anyone that has a machine they will fit

I do not know if it any help, but there is an old Crawford catalogue online at lathes.co.uk (https://www.lathes.co.uk/crawford-collets/) That says Boley Leinen for type 55 (page 6 or 49).

I do not know if it any help, but there is an old Crawford catalogue online at lathes.co.uk (https://www.lathes.co.uk/crawford-collets/) That says Boley Leinen for type 55 (page 6 or 49).

Apparently used in a BCA jig borer and a tenga mill too bur seems to be no interest at all in them

Crawford collets did make some collets for Pultra , I was born in Witney I used to walk past the factory every day to school.

Try an advert on www.homeworkshop.org.uk If you write down something you would swap for them, with each person paying postage, that could help shift them to your benefit. You need to find that person in the world who bought the BCA that came with a load of S&B stuff thrown in. Are there any watch/clockmaker forums where people might have a machine the collets would fit?

will join and stick an add on, wouldnt mind swapping from some decent metric reamers or some metric split dies to be honest.

im not sure about watchmakers lathes, hadnt really thought of them

Update on the Pultra 17/70 I have stripped it & found everything to be in good serviceable order albeit very grubby but after a clean & paint removal I have repainted it in the same Grey as my Pultra P type just waiting for some new oil wick & watch crystals to be delivered before reassembly.
I have sold some of the stuff I don’t need so lathe owes me nothing ( bonus ) and still have some to sell.
Also the 17/70 didn’t come with a tool rest for the 70mm centre height so have been making one using my P type rest as reference ( first picture) just clamp & bolt to make.

Finished the 17mm tool rest tried to get it close to the original 50mm one I use on my P type not a perfect match but close enough for me.
I used an original base to save me having to mill a T slot but everything else is shop made including the flip over part .
