Finally getting to the end of my lockdown gate project....
Jaffman (a few posts down) used TIG because he ran out of MIG wire - I used MIG because my TIG broke (actually I would have used MIG for a good part of it anyway)!
I have a hydraulic closer to add to it (all the brackets are there on the inside) and a catch to hold it open when carrying the shopping in.
So, proportional time taken: about 10% making the gate (the fun part) and 90% chiselling out the old gateposts and general faffing about which has left the skin on my hands dry and cracked (the definitely no fun part).
I've chosen a simple design so I can get a wire brush into all the corners to clean it up for repainting after it has been ignored for 20 years - I'll be into my 80's by then so probably looking for an easy life ;-)
I don't plan to be making any more gates unless someone nicks it!
