That thing in the first post is bugging me now. For the life of me I can't remember what they are, but I know I've seen those before. Just cannot place it for love nor money.

To me because of the size it looks like it can be two things .
(1)
An unused vine nail the sort of thing hammered into the mortar of a wall to which a vine / plant is tied. we now have vine eyes which make it easier to do .
( 2)
An unused machine hot forged /stamped nail .
They were used around the edges of the old thick enamelled advertizing signs to clip them to walls etc.by hammering them into the mortar joints .. shoulders facing inboard of the sign edges .
Something very similar looking was also used for clipping the old early 1900'sera lead covered mains lead in cables to a wall . ( Precedes copper/zinc banjo type cable securing ties , cabling lead lugged nails or saddles & pins .
If the pin is very carefully put under the cable with the lip uppermost and ever so gently tapped into the mortar till the lip just holds the lead cable covering sheath it's job done , hit it too much and you cut/damaged the lead outer and the rubber/cotton covered inner's.
They were also often used for other purposes such as picture hanging nails by some folk because prior to electric drills & breast drill with tempered spade ends as putting a wall plug into hand made brick was hard work with a hammer & a star end tempered in a carrier bar . Putting in blunt ended " cut nails " or hand forges square headed nails often caused the plaster to " Blow out " & the fixture to fail .
All you had to do was find some thick plaster and with a decent wallop of a small lump hammer wellie in the nail fair & square leaving about 1/4 of an inch in front of the head showing . The picture nail went in easily and stayed in due to the load being spread across the wider part .
Question .
Have you " Kissed" it on a grinding wheel to see what metal quality it is ......if so what colour & form were the sparks given off ?
Nice sharp thin starry exploding long tailed sparks would indicate a decent high carbon wrought iron .

That's what I was trying to think of. I had a vision of some type of nail/clip, but kept thinking of the old lead clip type ones, which it obviously isn't. Now you mention it though, that's where I've seen something same as or similar to those. In an old stone orchard/garden wall with string lashed round them for creepers and similar.
