Another inverter welder died today!

Just burnt out another MMA inverter today!

Pricing up a Kemppi Miniarc Evo 180 as we speak! (£613 delivered)

Gonna buy a good one this time!

Any suggestions on make and model??????

(I need a portable one!)

Only put 6x 2.5 312 rods down.

It is only about two and half years old. Major melt down, short to earth! Had cover off, black mess on PCB and some wiring!

That can't be any good - it's only got one control knob on the front. Good ones need at least eight or ten control knobs on the front

It has done some work! The day it failed it had run only six rods!

I am torn between...

Kemppi Mini Arc 180 at £509 +VAT

or

Fronius Transpocket 1500 at £550 +VAT

(both inc delivery in the price).

Can't make my mind up? Help....!

You know I also should want to know why. Even if there is no warranty left you don't want to repeat the cycle of what is occurring with more expensive sets.

I feel sorry for you,both the sets are good.We have found that the Kemppi is small and light to carry the Fronius technology is as good as Kemppi,you have to go with your heart with these two class products.which ever one you pick it will not let you down

Umm...?

1. Kemppi has digital gauge and 30 more amps.

2. Fronius has a better more robust case and a filter for the fan. (but is £50 dearer)

Duty cycle is about the same!

I never weld with rods bigger than 3.2mm with this sort of welding set (I have a huge diesel set for melting things).

Went for the Kemppi...

Only because I wanted to order some other stuff from Rapid welding.

It is the only place I can get some certain spares and I can get free postage on them if I buy the welder.

MicorStick 160 has the highest 100% duty cycle from the ones you mentioned.

Drop proof from 80cm, 3 yrs warranty as apposed to 2 yrs from the two which you shortlisted, stable arc function which overlays a AC frequency onto the DC current to reduce/eliminate arc blow, CEL compatible and all with the added benefit that you could use it on the battery at any point in the future should you want too.

Went for the Kemppi.

Last year I bought three Kemppi RA Kempact MIG sets for our workshops, been really pleased with them!

Have been very disappointed with TecArc stuff of late, tried to buy British and failed. BooHoo...

Kempii is a good brand, good machines.

The Inverter you bought and which failed isn't "Made in Britain" might explain your disappointment
