I know this question has been asked loads of times already, and I've read about as many posts as I can find on this and other forums but am so utterly rubbish I still don't understand what I need :S
I have a new Clarke 100en welder
I have a garage about 200 meters up the road from my house
I have power in my house and not in my garage nor any means to get the power in my house to my garage.
Hence the need for a generator!
I have read that I need to know the KVA of my welder of which I've no idea how to work out - something to do with amps to watts to volts to volt-amps to kilo-volt-amps... but that's all way over my head.
I've also read various ideas about the KVA generator I need, starting from people who say a 3kva will suffice to others saying a 6.5 is barely adequate.
I'm welding my mini which typically is not the thickest metal around and I doubt i'll be needing to go beyond the low setting on the welder (if that makes any difference).
So, can anyone recommend a specific generator(s) that would be adequate and how much I should expect to pay for it new or (preferably) second hand? I've looked at hiring but from what I can tell it's going to be £150 per week minimum which is too expenseive for the amount of work I need to do.
Please help, very confused
