Another daft question

Hulloh,

So, I finally picked up a nice BOC Y bottle ready for my first foray in to MIG welding but... The reg/peashooter combo that came with my welder has a horizontal fitment.

One of these:

I've ordered another regulator to fit the BOC bottle but I'm too impatient to wait so I was wondering if I could get away with sticking the bottle on it's side for the first few uses - long enough to knock up a welding trolley for example or would it be best to use it the correct way up and pretty much guess the flow rate?

Lying the gas bottle on its side won't affect the gas but it's a big no no as it makes it all to easy to damage the valve and turn the bottle into a missile so I'd recommend keeping the gas upright and secure.

Maybe just lay it down to set the flow then pop it back up again...

i don't see why that wouldn't work just to get you started until your new reg arrives

It's not CO2 is it Mr Fro? I think that's a liquid and needs to be upright. SWK will keep me right.

Lay the bottle on it's side to set your flow rate then keep the reg set at that point and stand the bottle back up safely.
