I've been getting on ok with the stick welding, can lay down a decent bead and my fillets are not bad on heavier stuff but I'm currently working with some 25x25x2 box and really struggling with inside corners of T joints.
I know stick isn't best for this job but I can't afford a MIG set at the minute. The image below is a particularly poor one but I've had loads like this - really heavy slag inclusions and just generally crap! Decent welds are outnumbered by rotten ones about 8:1 at the minute and I've done lots!
I'm using Fincord 2mm 6013 electrodes and tried everything between 40-60A (box says range is 40-60), Jasic inverter machine, all joints cleaned up well with a flapper wheel before welding. Electrode is stuffed right into the corner although I've tried weaving a bit to see if I could build up more weld material without building up too much heat. Obviously blowing through the material is a big problem and keeps happening if I hang around too long - which feels like I need to do to get a bigger weld pool going. I did just did a much faster run at 65A and that seemed better but I'm really worried about increasing the amps too much and blowing through. A bit at the end of my tether and getting a bit sick of grinding every weld out!
Any suggestions very welcome!
