If you are just looking for measurement conversion, either use Google or the calculator app...

If you want things like thread/tap sizes converted, I have FS wizard on my phone for feeds, speeds, hole positions etc and also tap sizes and drill size conversion plus quite a bit more

I use Google now, but I want an app on my phone that I can just tap the numbers into if such a thing exists.

the calculator on my s22 had a converter on it...set 1 side metric and other to inches, then whatever unit you had just tap that box and input the numbers, other side changes as you type. annoyingly the calculator on my pixel 10 doesnt do it but i have a machinists handbook with a chart right next to the lathe

Of what quantity/quantities?

Linear length (inches to millimetres) is simplest and just takes five keystrokes in any standard calculator (/25.4 or *25.4)

Or do you want US gallons per hectare per lunar month converted into drams per square foot per minute?

The FS Wizard app covers way more than I need, but as it covers what I do I reckon that'll do the job, thanks.

I use my own home-written calculator, which will convert most common things, but I'm not recommending it as it's reverse polish and most people won't want that.

What I will say though, is be careful when you're looking for unit converters and using arguably ambiguous units. Google is usually clever enough to realise that you're in the UK and hence probably mean a proper (imperial) 568 millilitre pint but many will assume the smaller American pints. Likewise gallons etc.

"Engineering based" is rather too vague to be meaningful.

If you take seriously the warning above about US volumetric units (see also fluid ounces [16 or 20 in a pint] and US ton [2000 lbs] vs UK ton [2240 lbs] vs metric tonne [1000kg or 2204 lbs]), you see why it is important to describe the specifics of what you want.

"Imperial" is not a unified concept, so the closer you can get to what you are interested in, rather than a potentially risky 'do everything' version, the more likely it is to be correct.

Do any covert metric to imperial in the nearest fraction? I.e. I'm not interested in 4.25 inches, I want the output to be 4 1/4 - that's obviously dead simple but when the output is 4.6753 inches, I want to know what that is to the nearest 16th, 32nd etc.
