Anchor Resin Recommendations please

I need to anchor some 10 or 12mm screwed bar into normal brickwork, won't be taking a heavy load, just to locate some railings between pillars.

Never used this method before before, I believe there is single and 2 pack resin????

Any help appreciated on which product is best and/or easiest.

we use hitli two pack at work as well as the drop in cartrages both work well but the two pack stuff you need a special frame

It will be good if Hilti..still hoping for a single cartridge though...got a fair bit to do and its coming out of profits

as we are often going to climb the struture we have glued down we use the best stuff

A lot of the resins we use for everyday stuff are a single tube, but have two components inside the tube which are squeezed out in the correct proportions and out through a mixer nozzle. Some fit in a normal silicone gun; some you need a special gun for. The tubes are usually around 6 -7 quid.
Anything structurally critical, or when specified by an engineer is usually Hilti HIT HY or RE, which is around 25 quid a tube.
We try to avoid using it where ever possible as it slows the job down when compared with using an expanding anchor. Sometimes the only way of fixing into cracked/old brickwork or bricks with frogs/perforations in them.

great link..and sort of out of the profits ...a favour for a favour and thought it would be cheaper than 30 rawlbolts

if there is no real load, or it is in shear (across the bolt) then almost any polyester resin would be fine I would think.... high end/epoxy is only required for high load/ engineering stuff

Cheers Mike, yes its just some 18" rail panels between brick pillars..just sit there and look nice, looks like the noral stuff will do the job fine.

from the sould of it I would be using toolstation/screwfix el-cheapo polyester then

Beware of the tube size, I bought a cheapy silverline gun for the 380mm tubes, cost about £10, and hasnt given me any trouble. the bigger tubes with twice as much in tend to be not much dearer than the small tubes, more than a few tubes, and its worth getting a coaxial gun.

As Paul said though, the Hilti stuff is very good, but you need a Hilti specific gun....only available from Hilti...blah blah

For what your doing, the cheapy stuff will be fine.
