amps for welding M10 nut to 3mm thick steel

need to weld some nuts to a plate so that when the plate is welded to the end of some box section the nut will be inside.

same current as a normal fillet or less?

cheers. I only need to tack 3 of the flats down as there wont be any real load on the nut, its only a small rack for a mates surf van conversion but it needs to be removable so I cant just weld it all up lol

I've welded M10 nuts onto 2mm plate using 2.0mm rods at about 60A, Not the prettiest welds, but they've held hanging baskets for a year or so As you say, just tack three of the flats, giving it time to cool between welds. On one I tacked all six sides, but I realised it was overkill given that (in my case at least) the nut only actually needed to be held still until the bolt was done up.
