I will be spending a couple of weeks in the US
How do i go about charging my camera gear phone ect
Normally just plug the charging transformer in to 240 volt at home

Just get a US two pin travel plug adaptor to take your UK 3 pin plug it'll work fine for charging phones, cameras etc,
US 2 pin voltage is around 115 ish volts fyi.

If its a modern switch mode supply it should operate over a wide supply range , normally from around 95v up to 250v do the chargers have a label or anything on.

I've never, ever, ever had a problem plugging anything in, just using a 3 pin to 2 pin adaptor.
What will get you is the spark when you connect and disconnect anything from a socket!

If the supply has any weight in it they almost pull themselves out of the wall. Last hotel i was in i had to bend up a coat hanger to bodge a support to keep the phone charger in the wall socket.

I've been known to put a paperback book under the adaptor / charger.

Then there's the weird hotel lamps that have 2 pin sockets built in - they seem to produce the biggest sparks

But buy a good quality one - some eBay ones don't fit well from the 2 to 3 pin , although they seem to work, it's hardly faith-inspiring

As Skoti says, buy an adaptor and just plug it in, will be ok

They use 60hz instead of 50hz but that doesn't seem to affect anything without a motor.

I dont like that at all, that needs a folded business card between the pins on the plug to give some insulation between the pins.

That's a Aus/Kiwi plug, they are quite frankly crap. The pins always bend if the plug gets knocked and heavy things like transformers droop down. Can't beat chunky British plugs, best in the world I reckon (just don't stand on one in your socks!)

Seemingly you're not the only one with that opinion;

What we do is take a 2 or 4 way block, that way you only need one plug adapter and you can charge everything at once. They are very light and don't really take up that much room. My 2 way has a female kettle plug on it so it's dead easy to a get local cable for nothing with a male kettle end.

Nearly all mobile phone and laptop chargers work on 100-250v. I have a laptop lead with a 110v plug on it in case I have to charge it on site, and I have a 110v plug with a 3-pin socket for my phone just the same.

The input voltage will be on the charger or iwer supply. Just double check it will run at 110v
If it is only 230v thwn it may not produve the required voltage to charge the device.
There will be a plate on the charger stating tge input voltage and currdnt and the output voltage.
If you video for tomorrows snnc the we will be able to see it to check

Thats good then. take a UK 4 gang extension and then put a US plug on it when you get there
