Echolink is essentially amateur radio over the Internet
Rtty/ft8 are data modes

My radio comms ended with looking up which frequencies to use depending on where I was in the world and what time of the day it was where I was and in the UK.

I swear that the tinnitus I now have stems from too much time on the HF, it sounds very similar!

It just sounds similar! ;-) The tinnitus is probably from too much head banging music/panel beating/angry grinding!! Mind you, the WW2 listeners were told to keep their headphone volume high to be able to hear weak stations better, and now have tinnitus as a result!!

Truth of the matter is I spent too much time around rather noisy military jet engines as a younger man and am now paying the price. It could be worse, I can at least manage it. I know some sufferers can be driven to depair by the condition.

The problem now is anything even vaguely HF is wiped out by interference, its not the PSU as it is identical on battery power.
I am considering purchasing a QRM eliminator
