Aluminium weld on vented filler

I'm making a water tank to sit on top of a dog box, just ordered a weld on filler before I realised it would need to be vented for frosty weather, i can only find motorcycle type caps which are to expensive, am I over thinking this

Fit a chainsaw tank breather or similar to the tank or the cap.

a vent won't stop frost damage

As said drill a hole in it and fit a motor cross breather
