aluminium tungsten

Recently I tried aluminium welding having read about grinding to a point how do I stop it going into a ball created btw.

Second the rod is balling too and often is dirty compared to the parent the puddle looks like it has flakes being sprinkled on it

Any advice

I am using ceriated tungstens

You need to keep the end of the rod in the gas shielding, really important with aluminium

You need to turn the balance up or down, depending on machine, to keep a point on the tungsten
what welder is it

The tungsten is supposed to ball up when your welding on AC, as WMJ says you need to keep the end of the filler wire in the gas shield
