Although I have a lathe I was talking to a local turner, he reckoned it would be too much to stretchYou could form that in a fly press with some simple wooden tools made with a router

I have 3 or 4 if they are any use to you.
I've looked a a few most are stainlessI'd be down the home utensils isle in asda checking out the pan lids, there again BnM or homebargains might be cheaper, and keep the missus sweet with a few new pans
I had a tank in for a few add ons a while a go lovely shaped well made thing radius corners etc it had one on it, opening was 150mm, the sides weren't angled straight like a dog bowl but spherical, around 60_70mm deep with a 80mm diameter bottomWhat diameter are they, 200 ish?
Mrs has a ball shaped cake pan that was cheap, 2 hemispheres with a safety edge...
I'd imagine you could press the bottom flat pretty easily, especially if you cut a hole in it first that's a little smaller that you need, flatten, then open out to final diameter.
That's good to know the e type jag fuel tank I repaired a few weeks ago had one of them on itMocal Spill Tray For 2 Inch Flush Fit Fuel Caps
This rubber spill tray is designed to fit with Mocal medium size flush fit fuel filler caps which have a 2www.demon-tweeks.com
I've already thought about it I may roll a cone and weld a bottom disc on it,
Been looking through them too most can be had for as little as a £1 each, on site there are ultrasonic probes to measure depth of fluid etc they have a shade over them to protect them from the elements, they look about perfect
...I may roll a cone and weld a bottom disc on it,
That's what I'd like and better explained, a bowl with bulging sides like the example at the top of the page from axminster panel specialistsJust an idea that might not work. Make a flat development of a cone. Run it through a shrinker on the short edge and feather out the shrinking as you go up the side towards the long edge. That might put enough shape into it so when you pull it into a circle it ends up as a bowl. In effect, you want a cone with bulging sides.
I would encourage you to have a try at spinning it - use a wooden former. There's a hole in the middle of the finished part which means that you can bolt the blank to the former. Don't make the blank too big (or too small ).Although I have a lathe I was talking to a local turner, he reckoned it would be too much to stretch
