Hi, im curious as to how you would weld Ally in 2 3 4 position. On the flat i was told to run stringers but what about positional work? Can you Z weave like regular mig or no?
I've not had a go but I've looked at lots of tipper lorry backs and I would not imagine that they turn them over and climb on top to weld them so positional must be an option and if the metal is about 5mm+ thick then they must use some kind of filling technique.
I would run stringers unless its an vertical and you can weave it. But be carefull of meltdown with no warning. So i would trigger it as i went up...Bob
A mig pulse welder would do it without blowing through, plus you dont have to weave, just push in a straight line. It leaves a nice finish too. I welded on a whole new side and front of a class 2 tipper body that had toppled over on soft ground. The welder only cost £110 to hire for the week
