aluminium electrodes ?

Can anyone get hold or know where to get ally electrodes (DC) at a good price ?

EBay is £9 for 6

I have never used them, but they might work for some little repair jobs I need to do. And yes I tried ally brazing rods, and I could not get any thing to stick.

I have used ally brazing rods a few times now. Yes they need a little practice, but results can be excellent on some dodgy materials,any also on good ally etc

stick welding ali...... it's one of the dark arts. it can work very very well and others may think you have gedi like mastery of the force. but it can and will go just as wrong.

very valuable trick to learn just dont ever rely on it working, very much best saved for bin of last resorts. also you want really good ventilation those fumes chould possobly be used in chemical warfare

I've Had a lot of good results using Hobarts Aluminum 4043 I/8" electrodes. Got to be ran DC only 70-120 amps and there not cheep but does a fine job.

Get a fan on to blow the smoke away so you can see what you are doing.

I repaired a ally Starter motor flange and the cast ally that had snapped off a massive old Wolf hand drill. Both still going strong,
P.S.
Just managed to find the broken drill handle pics. Broken,repaired then painted. Nothing there to indicate size but it has a 3/4'' chuck and will break your wrist as soon as look at you, Ex shipyard machine.

I'd be seeing if there's a member local to you with a tig set rather than using ally stick, horrible filthy process!

Used it in tipper truck backs years back, it's a last choice method and difficult to run positionally. Get a guy in or hire more suited gear depending on the job imo
Fumes are real nasty on many specialist mma rods as others have pointed out

Real nasty fumes, did it years ago, Oxy/acetelyne and acid flux not just as bad but need new clothes after a while, buy an ac tig
