Alternate use for a mag drill magnetic base

Evening all,
Been given works old mag drill because it doesn't work..not actually tried it or looked at it yet but I'm wondering if if is completely ******** could the powered magnetic base be reused for something else and if so what as I'm not as creative as some of you guys

I was going to mount one upside-down on a work bench. Use a foot switch to activate it.
Thought it might make a good quick-clamp for holding stuff down.
Still got all the bits in a box somewhere...

It would maybe be handy for holding flat plate or the likes for buffing ,,, hold the magnet in a vise upside down

I have one I tried to give away on here. No joy.
So…..

Turned it into a mag chuck with a
cheap push to make foot switch.

When you are wire brushing dross off plasma cut stuff with an angry grinder it saves a ton of time.

Phase 2 is to recess it into
My bench. Somehow.

I was given one years ago as the mag base was duff, I used to get a lot of motors rewound and the guy rewound the coil in the base for a drink, still got it somewhere!

I had an evolution one in bits ,,, and it was basic beyond basic ,,,, must agree If a replacement drill was available its the route to look at

The wiring on mine was simple.
L, N & E.
Power on = magnet on.

Another idea I had for it was make/find another collar for my piller drill and add it on as a 2nd table. Would be handy if you had a lot of holes to countersink..
I suppose you could fit some bolts to the backside of the mag base to match the slots on a drill table then just pop it on with some wing nuts.
Then you could make up receiver brackets to quickly attach it to a work bench.
You could have horizontal and vertical brackets, wall mounted etc...
Make an angled bracket on a couple of liner rails attached to a belt sander and it would be good for blade sharpening..
