Good metal paint, i have used the black,silver and green. Another heads up is, Lidl have high temp silver (650* ) for around £3-00 for 440ml spray can.

My local lidl has filler primer, high temp aluminium, clear laquer for £2.50 , I've used this stuff and its a bargain, and its really good paint, not poundland 99.9% solvent !

I beg to differ on the Aldi black paint, I have had mine quite q while, maybe they changed formula/supplier. Mine covers great and straight onto bare metal.

ive been happy with what ive used , black doesnt cover amazingly well , but 2-3 coats and its good stuff

Well I have several posts in the garden, painted 4 years ago with Aldi metalcare paint, fully exposed to the coastal weather and not a bit of rust on them so worked well for me.
The rattle cans are quite thin and require several coats so doesn't work out that cheap but the finish is pretty good. I buy the tins and apply it with a brush or roller then flatten and give a top coat using the rattle cans to give a nice finish . Would certainly recommend it for a multitude of projects.

thier masking tape is a rubbish - best stick with a brand name even if it is 4x more ££
That's what I've found. The black brush on paint is definitely good stuff, but the instructions say you need two coats, and three is better, then it puts up with some weather. You have to stir it well. If you are lazy about that it's a bit like varnish, obviously.
I can't comment on the rattle cans. I've got one but haven't gotten round to using it yet. I'm saving it for a special job. I hadn't thought of using it as a finishing coat. The instructions say it needs several coats. It's bound to work out dearer than brush on paint.

Thats what i am on about its transparent when applied,how can black paint be transparent? it would mean that the pigment is less and therefore coverage is poor.

try stirring it , while its not the best covering paint ive used its no transparent

Just accept that i find the paint naff and is a con in terms of pricing,buy a £8 tin of metal paint and the covarage far out weighs the £4 tin due to the pigment being more.
Nothing more monotonous than painting a wrought iron fence and a gate with a weak paint ie you want to paint it once not two or three times.

I tend to use Jotun Conseal TU paint, it's Xylene based so quick drying and excellent coverage. Rarely have to use more than one coat, can be applied with brush, roller or sprayed.
It's a one coat paint so no need for a primer, I have gates and railings in the local area that I finished with Jotun over 10 years ago with no sign of rust coming through!
I buy 5 litres for £30 including vat from a local distributor so £6 a litre.
Standard thinners is about the same price for 25l.
Available in a full range of Ral, Bs etc colours.
