Airgun spares for a budget kids rifle?

Hi follis.
I picked up a broken kids 177 air rifle last week.
No makers name but it’s marked Spanish made, model Comet 4-5.

It’s basic and needs a new seal on the piston. Maybe also a new spring.
Any recommendations where I can buy parts by size?


Somebody has been into this before so the piston needs work as there’s no fixing for the washer. Either the washer used to be held by a nut but the bolt has been snapped, or it used to be held by a bolt and the bolt head has snapped. Any advice? I guess drill & tap for a new bolt or weld on a new bolt.
It’s worth nothing but that’s no reason I can’t try to fix it

Cut up wellies make good seals for the piston.

BSA/Gamo did a comet. If it’s one of these parts should be easy to get

After some light cleaning (brass wire brush) the markings are clearer:
COMETA-5 (Not Comet 4-5 as I first thought).
Made in Spain

A quick search found a very helpful restoration with great photos, good to know I'm not the only one willing to spend time on this kind of project

The good news is the first restoration thread clearly shows the piston seal & fixing that are missing for my gun so at least I now know what's needed.
There should be a screw in the end of the piston to hold the seal, the head on mine has been snapped off and all that's left is a stub with a couple of threads.
Hopefully I just need to drill that out & retap (or weld a nut onto the exposed threads and hope the heat loosens it)

are you sure that the seal is not stuck at the far end of the chamber and not missing
