Aircraft roots-type blower

Going through a scrap bin I found a large piece or RR Jet engine with a built-in blower. It is quite small, probably no bigger than one of those 500cc Aisin blowers. Is it of any use as a blower on an old Austin 7 or suchlike? I've had a Centrifugal Shorrocks on a Morris Minor before but not a Roots. Will need flanges welded onto the long inlet and exhausts. Photos to follow. Got to get it apart first!

There was a small Rootes type blower used on a lot of drag bikes in the 70's but I'm suffering from old fart syndrome trying to remember the name.
Could have been Godfrey but I know they were cabin pressuring blowers.

The cabin blower from the merlin was used quite extensively on cars after the war after they found their way to scrapyards! So I suspect it would work pretty well!

I had dealings with a 1300 mini with a roots blower .
It did very well in autograss racing .
I am sure it was fed by a 45 webber carb .

I had a blower on my Mazda MX5. That thing went like crazy.
Owned that car for 11 years. Had lots of fun in it.

I’ve only seen one actually fitted to a merlin, they were that popular post war for cars!

As they said on the Blue Peter programme 'here's one I prepared earlier'

I did this blown engine build for someone about 30 years ago, It has a Marshall Godfrey cabin blower as you can see in the photos. A couple of years ago I took ownership of the remains of the car and the complete motor both of which which need a fair bit of work before they'll be out on the track again.

TBH, these days I would choose an Aisin blower over a Godfrey Marshall, but I don't suppose the VSCC would approve...
