Aircooled Ali Head Clean Up

Hi All, I'm restoring an air cooled honda which had sat in a field for 6 years.
Its going well, and I'm not aiming for a concours finish.
But the the oxidisation on the ali head / fins / cases is ******* me off.
Ive done a bit with a brass brush on a stick thing which is tedious but somewhat effective,
i'm concerend about using a wire wheel and scratching the aluminium but want to crack on a bit more quickly.

Are there any tips on brushes or wire wheels which are not too aggressive that I can stick in a drill or even better brushes? - all the stuff i've seen on ebay is cheap crap and I know the wires will just fly off or are just hard steel not brass at all.

Engine is staying in frame, any tips appreciated on decent consumables/tools for this application.

Get it soda blasted, brings it up lovely

Quick shot of brick acid then hose it off thoroughly.

get ur'self a soda blaster, even make ur own....look at u tube.......just pop the tank off and mask up any delicate bis and do it in the frame......
soda is not very aggresive, cheap as chips from Tesco, it's just washing soda like ur mum used......when it hits the metal it just goes to a powder.....def do it out side on a dry day......prob need 4 large box's........
oh and a decent compressor..........

strong acid wheel cleaner and a brass brush /red scotch pad will get it tidy for a diy job ....or soda blast for a better job

Thanks Gents! Its in frame job, cheap little 250 to hoon around on so want to keep the clean up simple, easy and cheap. Its never going to look mint but would like to get rid of the "boat anchor" look.
I like the idea of those nylon wheel jobbies! thanks for that, should get into lots of crannies and not scratch too much.
