depends on the size of your compressor pumpCan anyone tell me how long air compressor tanks last using air grinders, and drills ?
I have never used air tools from a tank, so I have no idea.
Let's say I use a 47 kilo gas bottle as a tank ?
I have given up using my air compressor to power any tools apart from the ones where I cant get or afford electric versions, like air chisels, die grinders, nibblers and shears, all the other tools just draw too much air so that the compressor (and its 3kw motor) is running all the time. I bought an electric DA sander so I don't have to use the air DA and the electric version is quieter.
The compressor still gets lots of use by the plasma, spraying and air dusting but it doesn't make any sense to have a 3kw motor (compressor) struggling to do what a 800 watt motor (handheld) does easily.
I run a Compair Vane 3kw compressor with 250l tank at 140psi in my hobby workshop. Runs all my tools without issue, grinders, windy gun, cut off disks, plasma, blasting cabinet, spray gun, you name it..
im not ya mate but i like your postI don't have any mates so I'm fine with a compressor![]()

I had no idea that was a requirement from the original post....... But I am with the other responders, I don't have any mates so I have no need to take it out of my garage.....And how much did your 3kw compressor cost ? Can you carry it round to a mate's house to work on his drive ? As the OP is asking about using a gas cylinder as a tank I don't think he is up to spending the thick end of £2500 on a compressor alone. He is a bit vague on details of what he wants to do and what he has to do it with.
