Air shears

Im thinking of buying some cheep air shears,there's quite a few listed on ebay around the £20 mark and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction, ie are they any good or will they end up gathering dust under the bench.
They all seem to be talking 3/8 bore pipe but I only have 8mm although my little compressor does have a 3hp moter delivering 13.6 cfm, a little help would be better than a lot of pity,

I bought some cheap ones. Never worked.
If they did, I certainly wouldn't expect them to last long or do much beyond light use.

ive got some northern tool cheapy air shears, and the trick is to adjust the blade shoes tight to the blade and feed them with a lot of air, once you get that right mine were fine. For lubrication I just fire wd40 down the intake once per session and theyve never gone wrong yet...
The 3/8" bore pipe is so they can have the air flow they need, they ARE heavy air consumers, but if you have large bore from your compressor what that means is that you will spend a lot of time waiting for your compressor to build back up between usage. If you use the smaller bore pipes they will still work but struggle with harder to cut stuff that they would breeze on the big bore pipework.

However, are you planning on cutting a LOT of long straight lines? if not, get some air or electric nibblers instead. Theyre far far more versatile. You can always get them to cut straight by clamping a guide onto the stock.
